Dr Jo Chau Vu has been a Senior Lecturer in the Victoria University Business School since 1991. She has taught in the areas of Quantitative Methods, Financial Risk Management, International Economics and Finance, Research Methods and Research Proposal Development at doctoral level.

Jo has undertaken offshore teaching and coordinating assignments in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. From 2012 to 2015, Jo took the role as an Offshore Site Coordinator at University of Economics - Ho Chi Minh (UEH), Vietnam. She provided academic leadership for the establishment and delivery of a joint teaching program in Banking and Finance with the UEH.

From 2016 to 2018, she served as the Director of Research Training, College of Business, and from 2012 to 2016 as the Director of Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) Program. During this period, Jo has strategically reviewed and restructured the whole DBA program, transforming it into a streamlined and cohesive academic program, including enhancing the quality of the DBA that resulted in higher rates of completion and lower incidents of student complaint. She has also strengthened the program’s supervision capacity by cultivating a network of dedicated staff with supervision talents and skills.

Jo obtained her PhD in 2003 and has researched in various areas includes Tourism Economics and Forecasting, Women in Higher Education, and Transnational Education. Jo’s publication records include 34 journal articles, book chapters, refereed conference papers. She has published in top academic journals such as the Journal of Tourism Economics, Journal of Tourism Research, and Journal of Tourism and Hospitality.

Jo has presented conference papers, chaired sessions, reviewed papers in a wide range of areas, and has acted as Associate Editor for the Journal of Tourism Economics and Associate Editor for the Global Studies Journal. Two of her book chapters have been included in handbooks intended as reference tools for researchers: 'Factor Analysis' in Handbook of Research Methods in Tourism, published by Edward Elgar Publishing in 2012, and 'Comparative Tourism Shocks' in The Routledge Handbook of Tourism Research, published by Routledge in 2012.

Her joint paper with Professor Jimmy Tran, titled: ‘Economic Impact of Vietnam’s Tourism on Australia: An Econometric Study’, was received Best Research World Excellent Paper Award at the International Conference on Economics & Finance Research, in Los Angeles - USA, June 2018
